Under general supervision, to lead, coordinate, and perform public works development review activities; to work with the public on water, wastewater, drainage, flood management, transportation and right-of-way issues; and to perform related duties as required to support the Engineering Review and Inspection division of the Planning and Development Services Department.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited engineering university
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in engineering hydrologic, hydraulic, transportation, and/or traffic analysis and design.
- Current registration as a Colorado Professional Engineer or ability to transfer a current registration within one year to the State of Colorado.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering construction drawings, surveys, plats, engineering studies and technical reports, design manuals, codes, and regulations.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience as a worker who is substantially independent and successful leading engineering projects or studies and other specialized consultant work.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare clear and concise written correspondence.
- Strong interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to interface with applicants, consultants, contractors and the public.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Have and maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history, motor vehicle record and credit history.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS – In addition to the required minimum qualifications
- Advanced degree or Master of Science in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Possess a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, (PTOE), and/or Professional Transportation Planner (PTP) certification.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in public works infrastructure engineering including development review and code interpretation in a municipal environment.
- Ability to use computer software including AutoCAD, ArcGIS and MS Outlook, Excel, Access and Word programs.
- Knowledge of federal, state and regional programs, regulations and policies dealing with transportation, stormwater, flood management, water quality, and/or wetlands.
Hiring Range: - $89,856.00 - $109,824.00
