About the Position: The City of Grand Junction is searching for an Engineering Manager who has experience in various engineering sectors including transportation, roadway design, and utilities, as well as a record of project delivery success working with a variety of agencies. The City offers a 15-step pay plan. The hiring range for an Engineering Manager is $107,265.60 - $118,435.20 annually, which represents steps 1 to 5 of our pay plan. Each year, with the approval of City Council, employees receive an additional step/pay increase of 2.5%.
About the Public Works Engineering Division: The mission of the Engineering Division is to plan and manage the improvement and expansion of public infrastructure systems to maintain acceptable levels of service and accommodate future growth. City Engineers have used growth projections for the next 20 years to prioritize and design the streets we need to continue to grow gracefully. These Public Works Projects will focus on keeping our traffic flowing smoothly, widening of streets, replacement of outdated utilities, and the creation of new roads and intersections.

What You'll Do:
- Manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department including the rehabilitation, expansion, replacement and continuous improvement to the City street network, storm drainage and sewage collection systems, water distribution systems, traffic systems, and Parks facilities; perform long range planning, monitoring, and budgeting
- Coordinate assigned activities (e.g. design, construction, and inspection) with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies or contractors
- Provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Public Works Director, Utilities Director, Parks Director, and occasionally other department directors
- Respond to and resolve citizen inquiries and concerns; receive, research, and respond to citizen requests for service and information pertaining to Public Works plans and activities

What We're Looking For:
- Excellent communication skills including effective writing and oral presentation skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow through on detailed projects in a timely manner
- A team player that can maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff, other departments, other agencies, and the public
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering or a related field
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado
- Five years of professional civil engineering experience with a municipality or other local government agency in the areas of transportation and utilities, including programmatic, design and construction, administrative and supervisory responsibilities is preferred
