Senior Transportation Planner
This competition is to fill one (1) permanent position, working 75 hours bi-weekly, in Whitehorse, Yukon.

We are looking for an experienced planner to join our team! As a senior member of our Transportation Planning Unit, you will work closely with management and employees to develop long-term transportation network plans, develop our 5-Year Capital Plan, and implement comprehensive divisional plans that promote consistency and improve integration with asset management objectives for our network. Who are we looking for? • An experienced planner with strong stakeholder relations, project management, and people management skills
What will you be doing? • Working within a supportive team to develop and improve the planning functions across the Transportation Division • Leading the development of the 5-Year Capital Plan • Leading submissions to maximize federal recoveries for projects identified in our plan • Leading the development and refinement of a long-term transportation network plan • Coaching and supporting staff in the delivery of the portfolio and in their professional development • Representing the Division at conferences, seminars, and inter- and intra-departmental committees

Essential Qualifications Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications listed below – specifically, how your work experiences and related duties align with these essential qualifications. • Bachelor’s degree in planning, economics, land-use management or a transportation-related discipline with some experience in the planning profession; • Experience carrying out and managing economic and/or policy research and analysis of transportation issues and projects; and • Experience managing and delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholders. • Leadership and supervisory experience would be considered an asset. • Membership or eligibility for membership in the Planning Institute of British Columbia or Canadian Institute of Planners is an asset. Candidates who have education, training and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability • Ability to collaborate within a team environment as well as work independently; • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; • Excellent research, analytical and problem-solving skills; • Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate projects; • Ability to establish strong and effective working relationships with senior management, and other stakeholders; and • Demonstrated leadership competencies.
Conditions of Employment: Must possess and maintain a valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence or equivalent. Job Requirements: Travel and mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
