PRIMARY DUTIES Nashua is the second largest city in NH, a thriving and innovative community of approximately 90,000 people. We are looking for a passionate, highly motivated and creative City Engineer to lead an Engineering department of 13 people within the Division of Public Works. The ideal candidate will be well versed in state of the art tools and cutting edge technology to utilize in maintaining and creating sustainable infrastructure that will last for many future generations of Nashua residents. This position reports directly to the Director of Public Works and is responsible for developing plans and specifications for City projects, reviewing subdivision and site plans, work performed by consulting engineers and oversight of various City infrastructure projects relating to the DPW’s Departments including Streets, Parks, Wastewater and Solid Waste. The City Engineer works collaboratively with other City of Nashua Divisions, oversees the Engineering department budget and capital improvement projects. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Professional Engineering license are required. Master’s degree in related field a plus. Must have 5 to 8 years progressively responsible employment in civil engineering in the municipal sector or a combination of other experience and education. Ability to use Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as thorough working knowledge of computerized civil engineering applications such as AutoCAD and familiarity with GIS software and databases. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and proven track record working effectively with employees, other City departments, residents and elected officials.
