THE POSITION: Additional Internship Information:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The projects planned for these internships include the following: 1. Assist with assigned research projects, directed by a Water Resources Analyst. Projects include continuation of floating wetland sampling, development of bamboo test site for denitrification, continuation of denitrification reactors with biochar media and maintenance of Anammox reactor at Durham. Experience with research involving pilot scale reactors preferred. 2. Assist with large water quality study of Tualatin River including sample collection, phosphorus and chlorophyll a lab analyses, and data analysis. Intern will work with lab sampling team to collect samples and to deploy sondes for continuous measurements. Experience with microscopic identification and counting of algae preferred. 3. Conduct stream water quality study on Dairy Creek for cooperative project with DEQ, ODA and OWEB. Intern will work with the lab sampling team to collect samples and to deploy sondes for continuous measurements. Experience with the statistical analysis of stream water quality data preferred. 4. Conduct study of the use of Kandu continuous monitoring and sampling system in conveyance system for Durham WWTP to assess applicability of the technology for source control monitoring. Intern will deploy five Kandu units in key manholes, collect samples when triggered and assist with sample analyses in the laboratory. QUALIFICATIONS:
