Located in the Trans-Pecos region of West Texas, Reeves County is bordered by New Mexico on its northern edge and the rugged Davis Mountains to its south. Altitudes, including those in the Davis Mountains, vary from 2,538 to 4,210 feet above sea level. Pecos, the county seat, and its largest city, is home to the Reeves County government offices. Reeves County is governed by a five-member Commissioners Court consisting of four commissioners and a County Judge. The Road and Bridge Engineer is a senior-level management and administrative position that reports directly to the County Judge and Commissioners. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of engineering expertise and exceptional leadership skills in building and motivating a team to meet and exceed high standards for service, efficiency, and accountability. The Road and Bridge Engineer position must have a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. The position requires seven (7) or more years of experience involving road design and construction and four (4) years of progressively responsible managerial experience. A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements may be considered. Residency in the county is preferred, but not required. Registration as a professional engineer in the State of Texas or the ability to acquire a P.E. in Texas is preferred. Municipal development experience is desirable.
