Engineering Specialist 2 – District Permit Specialist Oregon Department of Transportation Delivery and Operations Division – Region 1 District 2B Maintenance Clackamas
Compensation: $3,418 to $5,051 per month with outstanding benefits!

As our district permit specialist, you will play a role in providing greater safety for road users, reduced maintenance costs and preserving highway capacity. This involves technical inspections and investigations, permit writing and the drawing of technical plans. If you’re looking for a career with stability and growth potential, apply today!

A day in the life:
- Maintain lines of communication with construction companies, engineering firms, private parties and local, state or federal agencies relating to permits.
- Make investigations in the field and negotiate a middle ground between the needs of the permit applicant and the requirements of ODOT.
- Write permits and review plans for drainage, traffic flow, roadway improvements and utility placements.
- Make field inspections throughout the construction lifecycle of permitted work. Assure highway facilities are restored to original condition and inspect traffic control on permitted projects.
- Work in an office environment in a major metropolitan area.
- Travel throughout the district to perform inspections and attend meetings.

What we need:
- An Associate's degree in Engineering technology from a community college or technical school of engineering and two years of experience directly related to engineering; OR
- Three and one-half years (42 months) of sub-professional engineering experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additionally, driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
- Note: If you are currently a transportation maintenance specialist 2 (TMS2) or have been one in the past, in addition to your completed application, please attach section three of your TMS2 position description to receive full credit for your related work. If your experience includes work in multiple maintenance disciplines (e.g. highway, sign, bridge, striping or landscape) please attach section three of the position description for each of the relevant disciplines.
