If so, we have the position for you. As a Wastewater Operator III, you will perform a variety of technical work in the operation and maintenance of the Salmon Creek Wastewater Treatment facility. You are diligent, talented and a proficient operator who strives for excellence. Additionally, you have the proven track record of inspecting, adjusting, installing, repairing and preventative maintenance of equipment typical of a modern wastewater treatment facility. This position is represented by Local 307CO- Washington State Council and City Employees. This recruitment is open until filled, with a first review date of 8:00 AM October 23, 2019. We are currently looking to fill this position as a Wastewater Operator III; however, this position could be under filled as a Wastewater Operator II or I so all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Qualifications Education and Experience: Wastewater Operator III: Required State of Washington Group III Treatment Plant Operator’s Certification from the Department of EcologyRequired Five (5) years of operational experience in a modern activated sludge wastewater treatment planRequired valid driver’s license at time of employmentDesired Associate of Applied Science in Water Quality Technology or related field Wastewater Operator ll: Salary Range $25.72-$31.37/hr. Required State of Washington Group II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate from the Department of Ecology Required Three (3) years operational experience in a modern activated sludge Wastewater treatment plantRequired valid driver’s license at time of employmentDesired Associate of Applied Science in Water Quality Technology, or related field Demonstrated proficiency in reading technical manual, (O&M) operation and maintenance manuals, writing, and mathematics basic algebra Ability for advancement to Wastewater Operator III when the requirements of the Operator III position have been met. Wastewater Operator I: Salary Range $21.15-$25.73/hr. Required Washington State Group I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Certificate. Required valid driver’s license at time of employmentAbility for advancement to Wastewater Operator II when the requirements of the Operator II position have been met The ideal candidate will have the following strengths: Ability to instruct and provide technical guidance to less experienced co-workersAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with multi levels of the organization including other outside agenciesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAdvanced knowledge and ability to detect and correct defects in assigned equipmentAdvanced knowledge and ability to comprehend and interpret complex technical dataCalculate algebraic equations for process control and related performance measuresKnowledge of Federal, State and Local environmental regulations applicable to water quality standards associated with effective operation and maintenance of an activated sludge wastewater treatment facility Knowledge of: Machinery, equipment, materials, and operating procedures of a modern wastewater treatment plant; standard processes and chemicals used in testing and treating wastewater; occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work; practices and process control methods commonly used in wastewater treatment facilities. Ability to: Effectively and efficiently operate all plant equipment and conduct routine tests; make accurate readings and keep operational records; diagnose equipment malfunction and take corrective action; perform routine maintenance tasks.
