THE POSITION The City of Fresno is currently recruiting for a Street Maintenance Supervisor Under direction, the incumbent supervises maintenance and construction activities on streets, bridges, concrete infrastructure, traffic signals and streetlights, paint and sign, and related public works. The current vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works, Street Maintenance Division within the Traffic Signal and Streetlight Operational areas. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future vacancies. THE REQUIREMENTS These are entrance requirements to the competitive examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify. TO QUALIFY, an applicant must have: Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED completion; For assignment to traffic signals and streetlights: must have four (4) years of experience as an electrician in an industrial or commercial setting involving the construction, maintenance or repair of traffic signals, roadway street lighting systems, or mechanical systems which includes one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required at time of appointment and continued maintenance while employed within this class. Depending on assignment, may be required to obtain and maintain additional certificates and/or licenses. Eligibles certified for consideration for this position will be required to successfully pass a Department interview and a Department of Justice fingerprint process prior to employment with the City of Fresno. This position requires the possession of a valid driver’s license. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current copy of their driving record. THE SELECTION PROCESS The examination process may consist of the following: APPLICATION REVIEW - Qualifying Only: Applications submitted will be reviewed and a limited number of the most qualified candidates will be invited to the oral examination. Selection of the most qualified candidates will be based upon those applications demonstrating the greatest breadth and depth of applicable training, experience, and education. ORAL EXAMINATION - (100%): A panel of subject matter experts will conduct a job related oral examination to assess a candidate's suitability for this position. The Oral Examination date is to be determined. Candidates must achieve a passing score to qualify for the eligible list. Recruitment may be limited to a specific area of expertise as required by operational needs. The specific areas of expertise are listed below: 1. Traffic Signals and Streetlight Operations 2. Paint and Sign Operations 3. Street Operations 4.
