Gloucester County is seeking a dynamic team orientated leader with excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to lead the Engineering and Environmental Department. Gloucester County, Virginia is centrally located on the Eastern Seaboard with easy access to the Chesapeake Bay, Virginia's Historic Triangle, and major cities, yet abounds with small town charm and hospitality, while offering a wealth of outdoor recreational opportunities.
The Engineering and Environmental Director is responsible management and professional engineering work. Supervises the design and construction of all County properties, including buildings, parks, grounds, solid waste facilities, and public safety radio communication systems. Supervises the administration, enforcement and permitting activity for environmental programs, ordinances, and regulations. Qualifications:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
Six (6) or more years of progressively responsible management experience dealing with capital project delivery and land development. Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid driver's license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Commonwealth of Virginia. Recognition as a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) preferred. Possession of Dual Combined Administrator Certification (Erosion and Sediment Control Combined Administrator and Stormwater Management Combined Administrator) issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or obtain within 1 year of employment in the position. Preferred: Experience with AutoCad and ArcGIS/ESRI products. Pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and may be subject to subsequent physical examinations to ensure he/she meets job-related physical requirements.
