Serves as Public Works and Traffic Engineer. Performs public works functions related to traffic operations, development review, capital improvements and street and drainage operation and maintenance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reviews, evaluates, and assists the traffic operations section. Reviews construction, subdivision, and site plans for compliance with the City's standards and with current and long range traffic, drainage, and transportation plans.
- Coordinates and assists with current and long-range Public Works planning.
- Schedules and oversees field inspections for traffic, street and drainage operations and infrastructure construction. Coordinates with infrastructure inspectors. Conducts pre-construction conferences. .
- Serves as project coordinator and as the point of contact for the applicant and both internal & external customers. Manages projects.
- Prepares Development Review Committee memos and other staff reports.
- Provides notifications and makes presentations to Boards, Commissions, and City Council.
- Ensures that both internal and external deadlines are met.
- Maintains current case files, project status reports, copies of memos/notes, and file closure; maintains a project tracking system of active projects and all other required documents necessary for project management.
- Ensures that risk management occurs; facilitates resolution of issues and applicant concerns; assures all applicable Federal, State, and Local requirements are met.
- Meets with developers, consultants, contractors and operational staff to review service requests, development and construction progress, specifications, construction drawings, etc.
- Meets with various department personnel and the general public to respond to inquiries. Public Works

Qualifications
Public Works Engineer- P.E. –Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering. Five years of full-time experience in Public Works operations and/or development with experience in water system modeling.
Public Works Engineer –E.I.T. -Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Civil Engineering. Two years of full-time experience in Public Works operations and/or development with experience in traffic operations and engineering
