Our Water Treatment Program consists of: 20 MGD conventional surface water treatment plant, 13 remote booster pump stations and 8 reservoir sites. We are accepting applications for a Water Treatment Plant Specialist I, II or III and placement will depend on incumbents qualifications, skills and experience. The primary duties of this position are performing daily operations and maintenance of the water treatment plant, lift stations and pump stations. Specialists perform preventative maintenance, equipment repair, construction, sampling and analyzing processes to determine regulatory compliance and compiling computer based data and files, interpreting regulations and performing customer service and fabrication. A first review of applications received will be completed by July 11, 2018. This position is covered in the Teamster bargaining unit and incumbents must live within a 30 minute drive of their regularly assigned work site. The Grants Pass City Council has made building a new water treatment plant its number one priority for the past two years. Staff and the Council have worked alongside each other for the past 18 months to make a number of significant decisions to ensure the project will be delivered to the growing community. The new water treatment plant will be a state of the art facility providing clean water, security and value to the community for decades to come. This historic project will be the focus of activity for the water department for the next several years.
