The Kenosha County Public Works – Highways Division has an opening for a Senior Transportation Engineer (STE). This is primarily a project management focused position but also requires the performance of hands-on civil engineering tasks and opportunities to assist in staff supervision/development. The STE performs engineering studies, field-work, CAD drawings, bid specifications, design review and work schedules for a wide-range of Public Works projects. This position reports directly to the Director – Highways Division and works closely with a range of technical, professional and public officials. General Duties Manage multiple design and construction projects simultaneously. Design and plan for in-house roadway projects. Conduct needs assessments and analysis. Provide project management of consultant led roadway projects. Update and maintain Highway Division databases.. Collect survey data for highway projects with GPS and/or Total Station. Review the Development Traffic Impact studies and storm water analysis. Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations with respect to road construction project impact. Performs other work as required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Education and Experience Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in design-engineering, construction and project management. A WI Engineer-In-Training (EIT) at a minimum, WI Professional Engineer & Professional Traffic Operations Engineer preferred. Hands-on experience in Civil CAD design, project management and administrative software is required. Experience in using a range of technology-based field equipment is preferred. Excellent written/oral communication skills and project management skills are critical. Additionally, this position does require the physical ability to perform a range of technical field-work and a valid driver’s license. SELECTION PROCESS: Application Review - Qualifying.
