CAREER OPPORTUNITY FOR REAL PROPERTY PROFESSIONAL Santa Clara County Roads & Airports invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Senior Real Estate Agent. The County's Roads and Airports Department operates and maintains 62 miles of expressway and 635 miles of rural and urban roadways in unincorporated areas, including 23 miles of sound walls, 168 bridges, 39 miles of carpool lanes, 164 signalized intersections, 4,500 street lights, 25,000 regulatory signs, and 2,185 drain inlets. Its mission is to preserve, operate, and enhance the County's expressways, unincorporated roads, and two general aviation airports in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the traveling public. The Senior Real Estate Agent position in the Roads and Airports Department oversees a real estate program for the appraisal, acquisition, management, lease/license and sale of real property and rights of way under the jurisdiction of the Roads and Airports Department. This individual will lead others in developing and negotiating land transactions and will complete more complex projects involving multiple agency partners and private entities. An understanding of appraisal theory is critical. Experience in the public sector and with eminent domain is desirable. A premium will be placed on candidates with strong interpersonal skills, proven project management experience, and exemplary people development and leadership abilities. DEFINITION: Under direction, to supervise a staff engaged in a program for the acquisition, management, lease or disposal of real property and rights-of-way. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: This position has responsibility for all the aspects of the acquisition program while incumbents in this class are in charge of a major segment of the property and right-of-way acquisition program with supervision over a small staff of real estate agents. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Training and experience equivalent to graduation from college and five years of experience in appraisals and negotiations for the purchase of land, improvements and property rights including at least two years in acquisition for public use.
