The Position: The Bureau of Environmental Services is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our team. This Principal Engineer is the Division Manager of the Asset Systems Management (ASM) Division within the Engineering Services Group, and oversees (plans, organizes, directs and integrates) the work of the approximately 22-person division. The position reports to the bureau's Chief Engineer. ASM is responsible for continued asset management program development, short and long-term engineering planning, Combined Sewer Overflow program operations analysis and reporting, modeling of wastewater, stormwater and surface water systems, GIS mapping and data analysis services, and development of technical tools necessary for supporting the division's work. Two supervising engineers and a senior engineer report directly to this position. This Principal Engineer will be a leader at BES and within the Engineering Services Group during a time of significant organizational change. The bureau is examining and refining our processes and organizational structure for planning and delivery of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP), budgeted at $743 million over the next five years. BES is working to better integrate bureau systems planning, environmental planning, citywide plans, and project delivery. Our annual CIP is planned to increase over the next 5-10 years to reach a more sustainable level of asset reinvestment.
