Alameda County’s Public Works Agency seeks a dynamic individual to fill our position of Supervising Building Inspector. In this position, the successful incumbent will plan, organize and direct the activities of Building Inspectors assigned to inspect all phases of construction or alterations of privately owned building; to perform complex inspections on jobs where difficult problems arise and where complaints regarding inspections have been registered and to perform related work as required. The required minimum qualifications are: Either I Experience: The equivalent of two years of experience as a Building Inspector II in the Alameda County classified service. (Non-classified includes District Attorney’s Office, Hospital Authority, and the Consolidated Courts.) Or II The equivalent of five years’ experience in the construction industry as a journeyman, including four years of recent full-time experience as an inspector in a public building inspection department. At least two years’ experience must have been served in a supervisory capacity. Or III The equivalent of six years’ experience as a building or construction inspector for a public agency or department. At least three years’ experience must have been in a supervisory capacity. Education: Possession of an associate of arts degree in engineering technology, building inspection or a related field, may be substituted for one year of the nonsupervisory work experience.
