The Transportation Engineer Manager under the general supervision and leadership of the District Engineer: This position is responsible for the administration of the Construction and Operations Groups and Development in the District. Duties include but are not limited to; providing leadership, management, supervision, oversight and support to District personnel; serving as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies, and other interested stakeholders including addressing complaints, issues, and the needs of the public; preparing recommendations for the DE for the 5-year Construction Program; preparing a variety of technical and administrative reports and correspondence; serving on behalf of the DE on an assigned or as necessary basis; providing support and leadership for the administration and management of multiple highly, complex, sensitive projects; managing the development of the district's highway construction program from inception through scoping and design; managing district level efforts related to collecting data and evaluating traffic problems; assisting the District Engineer in strategic planning to meet the district's long-range needs for highway improvements; coordinating efforts with other district leaders to ensure project development, maintenance, construction, traffic activities and permits are balanced and comprehensive; making contract decisions with regard to encumbering millions of dollars of State and Federal funds; administering and assuming control over large incidents and determining the safety of the transportation system; ensuring that issued permits meet all applicable standards and comply with all applicable policies, statutes, and codes; in the absence of the District Engineer assumes all duties of the District Engineer with related authority and responsibilities as assigned or as necessary to ensure the continued operations of the district. Requirements for position: Valid Driver's License and Professional Engineer (PE) License for the State of Arizona or proof of eligibility for reciprocity at time of appointment.
