We are currently accepting applications for this position: CHIEF INSPECTOR $7030 - $9708 Monthly DEFINITION: Under general direction, coordinate the work of subordinate construction inspectors; train inspectors in various technical aspects of construction, office work, and field inspection duties. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reads, interprets, and studies architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and design for Developer and Capital Improvement Projects.Monitors both Capital Improvement Projects and Developer Projects and makes sound determinations on the construction works to ensure compliance with the approved construction plans and specifications.Ensures adequate documentation of construction works to meet the Engineering department requirements and auditing.Writes in a clear, concise, and effective manner with minimal direction. Prepares reports and provides written correspondence as needed.Under direction of the Engineering Manager, reviews, plans, coordinates and schedules the work of the inspection staff to maintain adequate inspection of construction workmanship and usage of materials. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: License or Certificates: Possession of a valid California Operators License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Department of Motor Vehicles driving record may influence employment or classification. Possession of a valid License as a Professional Engineer in the State of California is desirable. AND Certification as a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) and the Construction Manager Association of America (CMAA) is required or the ability to obtain certification within 2 years of employment. AND Possession of either of the following combinations of certification or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment: OPTION A: ACIA (American Construction Inspectors Association) Division I -- Engineering or Division II – Building AND Division IV -- Public Works OR OPTION B: ICC (International Code Council) Building Inspector or Plans Examiner or Certified Building Official AND ACIA Division IV -- Public Works Experience and Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited university is preferred. Technical or Trade training/experience that would prove qualifying will be considered. Five years of responsible experience in civil engineering projects and the construction of capital improvement and developer contracts, with one year of supervisory experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential Chief Inspector functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities may be acceptable.
