The Village of Beach Park is seeking to hire a full-time Public Works Director. This is advanced administrative and managerial work which includes the responsibility to plan, organize, staff, direct and control the operations of the Public Works Department in the maintenance of the Village’s streets, parks, storm sewers, the water and sanitary sewer distribution systems and other municipal buildings and grounds. This position is a Department Level position which Reports to the Village Administrator. Beach Park is a community of 13,000 people, 72 miles of roadway, 44 miles of watermains, and 75 miles of sewermains, located in northeast Lake County along Lake Michigan. Education Expectation: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, Public Administration or a related field. Engineering degree preferred. Experience: 7 -10 years of progressive experience required within a municipal Public Works or equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum of 5 years in a management or supervisory position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Qualifications Necessary Special Requirements Possess a valid Illinois driver license; CDL with appropriate endorsements preferred. Preference also given for a valid Illinois Water or Sewer Operators license. Must be available on-call to respond to emergency situations. This is a salaried (exempt) position. It is acknowledged that this is a hands-on Department Head position. Applicants should have significant field experience. The expected hiring salary range is $80,000 to $100,000 per year, D.O.Q. Persons possessing a P.E. designation likely to be hired at the higher end of the range.
