General Summary Manages, leads and performs complex engineering analyses and facility planning tasks to ensure adequate system capacity for existing and future customers. Provides critical technical support to design teams as well as key operation and maintenance staff addressing system and capacity needs. May provide water and sewer modelling training and guidance to intermediate and junior level staff in other divisions. Essential Functions • Performs and interprets hydraulic analyses for complex-level water and wastewater hydraulic planning analysis studies for on-site reviews, preliminary plans, water main and sewer main replacement/relocation projects, County Water and Sewer Ten Year Plan service category changes, land use rezoning proposals, updated MWCOG demographic projections; expansion of County designated growth areas; requests for additional capacity allocation for shared-use facilities with other governmental agencies, and other types of hydraulic review; • Determines specific capacity requirements and the subsequent sizing of water and sewer infrastructure; including pipeline sizing, valve and pressure reducing valve sizing, water and wastewater pump station capacity and head conditions, water and wastewater storage volumes, system pressures and velocities, and wastewater treatment plants and water treatment plants; • Provides complex hydraulic analysis support during the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the water and sewer infrastructure including but not limited to design performance criteria, scheduled water and sewer main shutdown analyses for pipeline construction and inspection procedures, emergency contingency plans due to water or sewer main breaks, and support during by-pass pump-arounds.
Minimum Education, Experience Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental or related engineering field; • 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of water and sewer planning and water and sewer modelling.
