The City of Coronado is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Lead Maintenance Worker in the Facilities Division of the Public Services and Engineering Department. This is one of four Lead Maintenance Worker positions assigned to various division within the City. The Facilities Division of Public Services is responsible for the maintenance and care of 11 large facilities/structures and various other small facilities/structures throughout Coronado. The Lead Maintenance Worker in Facilities leads, assigns, reviews, and participates in the more complex, difficult and skilled work of a crew responsible for performing maintenance, construction and repairs on City facilities. In addition to ensuring adherence to safe working practices and procedures as well as performing a variety of technical and complex tasks related to the Facilities Division. The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of facility operations and maintenance, coordination and supervision of contracted services. The ideal candidate will have high ethical and professional standards, strong organizational skills, the ability to effectively and efficiently prioritize, excellent communication and customer service skills. The successful candidate will also have experience in leading staff and managing contractors, consistently providing quality work and maintaining a high level of service, reduced costs, and increased productivity. Minimum Requirements Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: At least four years of increasingly responsible maintenance and repair experience in as-signed program area. Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Licenses and Certificates: Possession of or ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within twelve (12) months of appointment is highly desirable. Training and testing for these licenses and certificates can be performed on City time. A passing grade within the time provided is required in order for the selected candidate to complete probation.
