The City of Lincoln (Nebraska) is seeking an innovative, seasoned professional to lead our fleet management team. The individual in this role will have leadership of all facets of managing a complex operation including a budget of $3M, 13 staff, and fleet services for multiple departments across city government. The fleet of approximately 600 pieces of equipment ranges from lawn mowers and light trucks to large CNG and diesel street maintenance machines. We are seeking an innovative thinker who will continue providing a high level of internal customer service and identify opportunities for streamlining operations. In addition to technical operational oversight, this person will be also be responsible for business management of the operation, including writing bid specs for new equipment, conducting complex comparative analysis and life cycle cost estimates for fleet procurement, and forecasting fuel price and usage for use by internal divisions in creating budgets. In addition to a high level of management and operational aptitude, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in automated fleet management and inventory control systems, work order management, fleet right-sizing, process improvement, and green fleet initiatives. Fleet management accreditation through ASE, APWA, NAFA, NATMI, or equivalent is desirable. Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent supplemented by specialized vocational/technical school training in the field of automotive mechanics supplemented by at least 4 years experience in municipal construction and maintenance programs, equipment operation, maintenance and repair or related area, plus at least 6 months supervisory experience; or equivalent.
