The Utilities Operations and Maintenance Superintendent plans, coordinates, supervises, and reviews activities relating to the operations and maintenance of the City's water and wastewater production and treatment, and; the sewer and drainage facilities systems; or, to the construction, maintenance and repair of water distribution and drainage collection systems and the City's wastewater collection and combined sewer systems. This position also monitors projects, maintains records, provides technical expertise, and responds to problems and emergencies. The O&M Drainage Collection section's responsibility is to operate and maintain the storm drainage collection system including the underground piping system, ditches, creeks and detention basins with the goal to efficiently and effectively provide the City Council-approved level of flood protection for all the resident rate payers throughout the City of Sacramento. The Superintendent of this section is responsible for maintaining 60 detention basins, 836 miles of drainage pipeline and inlets, and 429 miles of creeks and ditches; and participates in the maintenance of 104 drainage pump stations.
