The Position Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. This position is located within the Structures Division in Carson City. Incumbent assists in the development and administration of the Nevada Bridge Inventory/Inspection Program in accordance with Federal requirements. Necessary activities include: coordination with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA); maintenance of the divisional bridge inspection standards; oversight of division staff and consultants; coordination with NDOT districts, local bridge owners, and other stakeholders. Duties also include oversight of the division's Non-Destructive Testing program and personnel during construction of bridges; promote good personnel practices, professional development of staff, and a good work environment; and provide required support of division and department efforts. To Qualify Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and four years of progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years experience as a Manager I, P.E. or Supervisor IV, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment. Special Requirements Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Additional Position Experience Work experience applying AASHTO bridge design specifications to the design of highway bridges or work experience performing NBIS (National Bridge Inspection Standards) inspections of highway bridges.
