The Snohomish County Department of Public Works is seeking a Public Works Supervisor IV - Bridge Engineer with strong skills in structural design, planning, leadership, mentoring and teamwork. This is a rare opportunity to be the steward of over 200 bridges providing passageway for residents, freight and business in this fast-growing, thriving County in the Puget Sound area. The successful candidate will lead a team of approximately ten engineers and technicians in maintaining, inspecting, designing and construction of bridges and other structural elements. We have bridges of various types and materials including timber, concrete and steel. This position will make determinations and recommendations regarding bridge repairs, bridge rehabilitation, bridge replacements and bridge overload permits. They will also review other structural items such as walls, vaults and picking plans and oversee bridge condition inspections, the preparation of studies, reports, design calculations, construction plans, construction specifications, construction estimate and maintenance work orders. The ability to successfully coordinate and partner with other county departments, outside agencies, citizen groups and the general public is essential. Snohomish County is located on Puget Sound, between Skagit County to the north and King county (and Seattle) to the south. Covering 2,090 square miles, the county has varied topography ranging from saltwater beaches, rolling hills and rich farmlands to dense forest and mountainous alpine wilderness. Snohomish County Public Works Department has over 600 employees and a $200 million annual budget comprised of Roads, Surface Water Management and Solid Waste. The Engineering Services Department is part of Roads and provides expertise in right-of-way, surveying, geotechnical and materials, design, construction and administration. We have over 100 employees and an average annual budget of $38 million.
