The City Engineers directs and manages the Engineering Division in the City of Salem Public Works Department. The City engineer reports directly to the Public Works Director. The Division consists of 4 sections and a staff or 51 FTE. Staff are managed by three Assistant City Engineers and a Management Analyst. The Division's staff consists of professional engineers, project managers, surveyors, inspectors, engineering technicians, management analysts, and administrative support staff. The Division has successfully delivered a wide variety of capital improvement projects valued at approximately $1 billion. The current capital delivery program consists of a $62 million police station, $95 million of utility projects and $50 million of transportation projects. Additional resources are utilized for delivering projects and services include consultants and contractors. The City Engineer is responsible to provide full service project delivery and management (inception to completion) for wide variety of capital improvement projects.
