The Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District, which serves a population of over 340,000 in the greater Madison, Wisconsin area, is seeking a Director of Operations & Maintenance (O&M). The Director of O&M oversees a system of 96 miles of interceptors, 18 pumping stations, and a 50 MGD capacity wastewater treatment plant. The position also manages an annual budget of $11.5 million and 51 employees.
Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering, a Professional Engineer license, and ten years of progressively responsible public or private sector wastewater treatment administration, including at least five years of supervisory experience. Qualified candidates must demonstrate a deep understanding of wastewater processes and infrastructure management and have, or obtain within one year of hire, an ENV SP credential from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. Proven ability to foster an empowered and responsible workforce that delivers outstanding services and to seek innovative ways to adapt, grow and improve the O&M Department is essential.
