DESCRIPTION:
Primarily responsible for Development Review related to transportation/roadway, drainage, wastewater, water engineering and solid waste. May assist with design of capital projects on an as needed basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Represents the City in Development Review Process related to transportation/traffic drainage, wastewater, water and solid waste design and acts as liaison with other city departments involved in the review of land development projects. Implementation of codes, rules and regulations, and reviews plans and specification related to transportation, traffic, drainage, wastewater, water and solid waste applicable to the development projects
- As the Senior DRC Engineer, provides information to and deals with developers, engineers, contractors, the public and outside agencies in relation to roadway, traffic, drainage, wastewater, water and solid waste design issues
- Must have an understanding of the concepts and intent of a Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA), specifically an understanding of capacity and level-of-service concepts as it relates to intersection and link design and functionality, and knowledge of various software used in the preparation of TIAs
- Must have an understanding of municipal roadway design, future traffic operational functionality of signs, markings, traffic control signals and other related traffic control devices, and vehicle/pedestrian relationships and ADA requirements
- Must be familiar with TxDOT transportation/traffic requirements
- Works with the City's Floodplain Administrator to coordinate and perform review of floodplain impacts of development projects
- Reviews Drainage Studies and reviews design of storm sewers, culverts, open channels, and drainage design related to roadways for development projects
- Reviews engineering calculations, selecting equipment components, specifications, and construction plan review
- Prepares written reports and items for the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council
- Additional Duties:Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas, and a minimum 4 years of experience after obtaining Professional Engineer registration. If not registered in Texas must be able to do so within 6 months of hire
